Reviews for Something Borrowed

A Fallen Angels Review Recommended Read! "Something Borrowed is part of the Legacy of the Celtic Brooch series. I have read every book in this series and have found them all to be outstanding stories. Something Borrowed continues this winning streak. In my opinion it is one of the best in this series. It is a contemporary romance that caught my heart in the first paragraph...."

"Kathleen O’Connor’s use of the Celtic brooch in this story is ingenious. She reiterates parts of the earlier stories without losing any of the momentum of this new story. I thought her twist on the reason for the brooch in the lives of Jody and Cliff was intriguing. These two characters are older but both are at points in their lives where starting over is a main priority. It was super to see Jody bloom beneath Cliff’s interest. The dialogue is realistic and the situations are ordinary without being boring. I loved this story. Ms. O’Connor has a new fan and I will be looking for anything new from this talented author. Well done!" - Marlene, Fallen Angels Reviews

"Who knew that SOMETHING BORROWED could have such a big impact on a person's life. Once again, THE LEGACY OF THE CELTIC BROOCH brings hope and love to those who believe. Though this book is part of a series, Kathleen O'Connor has written a delightful story about having a second chance at love that can be read alone and enjoyed immensely as I did." - J.T., The Romance Junkies

An Interview with Kathleen O'Connor
By Holly Hewson Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Kathleen, welcome to The Romance Studio! Please tell us about your featured book, Something Borrowed.

KO: In Something Borrowed, a wedding is a catalyst for my heroine to take a huge risk and ask her neighbor to escort her to a wedding. Since he runs a limo service, she offers to pay him but he prefers to take payment in services. He's in to bartering.

HH: So your heroine is just trying to go to a cousin's wedding with a date and gets a lot more than she bargains for. Where did you get the idea for this wonderful story?

KO: Two friends run a business called 'Rides 4 You' and they've gotten some interesting assignments. I've wanted to write a story about that type of business for awhile.

HH: What do you like best about your two leading characters?

KO: Jody and Cliff have been through a bit of pain in their lives but they haven't given up. They are both willing to take risks to make their lives better.

HH: This story is part of the Legacy of the Celtic Brooch series at The Wild Rose Press. How did you come to be part of this series?

KO: Kathy Cottrell, my editor at The Wild Rose Press, asked me to be a part of the series. She's a terrific editor and I was thrilled to work with her again.

HH: What can you tell us about No Doubt?

KO: No Doubt is a mystery/suspense novel available from Whiskey Creek Press. In addition to the suspense in No Doubt, I've got a potential May-December romance brewing. I didn't want the attraction between Detective Royal Sun (Sunny) Cloud and Joanne Gallagher to be expected. I think Sunny was very surprised to find himself attracted to an older woman. But in many ways he's far more world weary and jaded than she is. He likens her to a baby chick because she is blossoming and becoming attractively self assured in middle age.

HH: What are you working on now?

KO: I'm taking a break from the mystery novels and working on a comedic contemporary romance.

HH: What do you enjoy most about being a writer?

KO: There is such a thrill to create a world out of nothing but words and then have people talk about your characters as if they were real people.

HH: Tell us about your writing space.

KO: My computer is in the kitchen so I can cook up both plots and dinner.

HH: What's a typical day like for you?

KO: I'm a morning writer. (I blog with some fellow writers with similar work habits at The Lark Journals.) In the afternoons I edit, read and answer e-mails.

HH: Will you be attending any conferences or conventions this year?

KO: I hope so. In September I attended the Wizards of Words conference here in Tampa and found it very energizing.

HH: Thank you!
