When Ariel Swanson wrote a novel about vampires, she hoped it would exorcise her fear of the creatures that had, not so long ago, terrorized the human population.
Instead, it brought her to their attention.
And to the attention of Jachin Black—a man banished from the Sanguinas, a vampire clan, and forced to hunt among the despised humans. For he clung to the prophecy given years ago, of a better way for his kind to live... a prophecy Ariel unknowingly used as the basis of her novel.
Ariel hates and fears vampires. Jachin despises humanity. But the prophesy—and passion—bind them in ways they could never have imagined. Ways that may heal the past, and change the future...
Scions: A prophecy reveals hidden secrets and holds the key to fulfilling their ultimate desires.
A note from Jachin Black...
I was cast out and meant to die, but I was built to survive. Ruthless and resolute, I'll do everything in my power to live another day, no matter the consequences. I live, because my clan needs someone to believe in the prophesy, to always look for the signs.
You're human, of a race I heartily despise, yet your inner strength shines like a beacon, guiding me toward you. Your quick wit and your steadfast humanity achingly remind me what I want most, while your intoxicating smell makes me want to inhale your very essence.
You’re the most dangerous of forbidden fruit, constantly testing my ironfisted control, but I believe you are key to this eternal prophesy that echoes in my head.
You are...my salvation.
Jachin Black,
Sanguinas vampire

About Patrice Michelle
Born and raised in the Southeast, award-winning author Patrice Michelle gave up her financial calculator for a keyboard and never looked back. Thanks to an open-minded family who taught her that life isn’t as black and white as we’re conditioned to believe, she pens her novels with the belief that various shades of gray are a lot more interesting. She’s a natural with a point-and-shoot camera, likes to fiddle with graphic design and, to the relief of her family, strums her guitar to an audience of one.
Well, that's the condensed, back-of-the-book bio about moi, anyway. :o)
As for becoming a writer...I wasn't one of those writers scribbling stories as soon as I could write, but I was a voracious reader. At the age of fifteen, I told my mom after I'd finished reading a book, "One day, I want to be the one who writes the kind of books readers think about long after they've closed it."

An Interview with Patrice Michelle
By Holly Hewson Marketing Director for The Romance Studio
HH: Patrice, welcome back to TRS. Please tell us about your featured book, Scions: Resurrection. PM: Hi Holly, thanks for having me back to TRS!
Scions: Resurrection is about a woman who writes a fictional book to overcome her fear of vampires. What she doesn't expect is for a vampire to come after her. After all, vampires are extinct, or so she thought!
HH: This is the start of a series in the Silhouette Nocturne line. What can you tell us about how this series came to be? PM: Yes, Scions: Resurrection is book one in my Scions series for Silhouette Nocturne. There will be at least two more books in this series: Insurrection and Revelation. The idea for the first book in my Scions series, Resurrection, came directly from a dream--many of the events that happen in chapter two, to be precise. When I woke up, the dream was so surreal, I started scribbling notes. Then, my mind kept racing and I formed an entire story about the events of that dream. From the first book, two more were born.
HH: Where did you get the idea for Ariel and Jachin’s story?
PM: Again, the idea came straight from my dream where Ariel was kidnapped by Jachin and they were running and someone was shooting at them.
HH: What can you tell us about the stories to come? PM: The second book in the Scions series features Landon, a werewolf with secrets. You'll meet Landon in book one, Resurrection Landon has his own issues to deal with, the least of which is that he's trying to prevent a war from erupting between the vampires and the werewolves. Not to mention, Landon has to do so while working with the one woman he wants but can never have.
I can't say too much about book three yet, because there's a prophesy that flows through all three books, and in book three, Revelation, readers will finally see the resolution to the prophesy they've been reading about in books one and two.
I will say that all three of the Scions books will read as a stand alone romance with enough action and adventure and mystery to--I hope--keep readers guessing. :)
HH: What are working on now? PM: I'm currently finishing up Scions book three Revelation. I hope there will be more Scions books with Nocturne. Until then, I'll be finishing up a couple other projects I've been chomping at the bit to work on.
HH: How did you get your start as a writer? PM: I've always been an avid reader since I was a young teenager. After closing a novel one day, I looked at my mom and said, "I want to be the author that makes readers think about the characters long after they've finished the novel." To which she simply responded, "Then be an author." You've gotta love your parents for their unending support. To this day, my mom is my biggest fan! Even though I had the desire to be an author, it wasn't until I was much older that I had enough discipline to sit down and write a full length novel.
HH: How have things changed for you since then? PM: I had the desire and drive, but a LOT of learning to do. So I took the time to learn the industry, to improve my writing..and a few years later, it finally paid off. :)
HH: What goals have you set for yourself at this point in your career? PM: Right now, my goal is to write in more than one genre. Though I think my books will always have a bit of romance in them. My books can be pretty dark and intense and there's just something uplifting about the hope of finding love.
HH: What do you enjoy reading? PM: I love reading paranormal romance, urban fantasy, books on the supernatural and young adult novels.
HH: What would like readers to know about you? PM: I'd like to thank the readers who've followed me from book to book throughout the last four years, and I hope they'll check out my latest upcoming books with Silhouette Nocturne.
HH: Thank you!
