After a brutal attack by a huge, dog-like creature, Tammy is left clinging to life by a thread. Her last memory is of her rescuer asking her if she wants to live. She awakes to a nightmare, bound in chains, nearly paralyzed by terror-and with a strange sensual creature slinking beneath her skin, screaming with hunger for only two things. Blood. And sex.
Roark and Marcellus, leaders of the werewolves and vampires, come together to destroy the results of a night gone terribly wrong. As a result of the attack, Tammy has become a hybrid-part wolf and part vampire-and to complicate things, she's in heat. The transformation has thrown her into a sexual frenzy that makes her a virtual black widow. For the sake of their people, Tammy must die.
Yet they can't bring themselves to kill her. Instead, Roark and Marcellus find themselves trapped in the femme fatale's web of seduction. Her touch is heavenly…her kiss, deadly. To complicate things, they discover she is mate to each of them.
Soul-wrenching desire reigns over their struggle for dominance and possession, forging a unique bond between the immortals. Together Roark and Marcellus will fight to save the woman they love from the people they are pledged to protect.
Reviews for Black Widow
"Black Widow is a must have novel. It is definitely a highly recommended read. I can only hope that Roark, Tammy and Marcellus' story is continued. There is so much more that can be explored with these characters and their people. I look forward to any further adventures in this world." - 4.5 stars, Kimberley Spinney, eCataromance
"Like the infamous spider, BLACK WIDOW draws readers in and won't let you go until you've read every fascinating word. I've had Mackenzie McKade on my 'must read' author list ever since I first started reading her storylines but BLACK WIDOW shows a whole new side of her writing talent that I never expected. She's taken two highly popular subjects, werewolves and vampires, and combined them to tell a story that's so intriguing and down right sexy that I was salivating just imagining each scene. Add to that the intensity of the feelings between Tammy, Roark and Donne and an all around thrilling plot full of all the suspense you could possibly want and you have a story that you'll definitely be adding to your keeper shelf! Hopefully there'll be more stories in the near future involving these characters because I really would like to know more about many of them." - 5 Blue Ribbons, Chrissy Dionne, Romance Junkies
"If you love paranormal romance about a ménage with a devastingly handsome, very attentive vampire and a highly sexed alpha werewolf then you will adore Mackenzie McKade's Black Widow!" - 5 Klovers, Jennifer A. Ray, CK2S Kwips and Kritiques
"As Tammy gathered her inner strength, there were moments that I could visualize her wrapping her newfound power and confidence around her like a man wraps himself around his woman in the heat of passion. It was at these moments I would giggle and say `You go girl!' Now there is a character in the story, Stephen, who I would love to see in a future book."
"
A bucket of ice won't do the trick this time, you will have to pull out your little black book or grab your s.o. when you are done reading, or as you are reading this, but read it you must!" - Recommended Read, Dee Valentine, Joyfully Reviewed

An Interview with Leigh Wyndfield
By Holly Hewson Marketing Director for The Romance Studio
HH: Mackenzie, welcome to TRS! Please tell us about your featured work, Black Widow. MM: What a thrill it is to be invited to chat with the readers of The Romance Studio. Thank you!
Black Widow is my first release of 2008 and explores the impact of combining werewolf and vampire blood. The results are dangerously delicious. The adage "to die for" takes on a whole new meaning.
HH: Your heroine is in a terrible situation created by both the werewolves and the vampires. Where did you get the idea for this incredible story? MM: The market has its share of vampire and werewolf stories, but not many plots contain both. I wanted something a little different. So it got me thinking. How cool would it be to combine the races—really combine them? A hybrid—part wolf, part vampire. Throw the woman into heat, add a vampire’s legendary blood lust, and she would be a veritable Black Widow. The idea of an irresistible, but dangerous woman was intriguing. Not to mention, I fell in love with the title. <g>
HH: What did you like best about Roark and Marcellus? MM: Roark’s earnestness and Marcellus’s playfulness masked by even deeper emotions. I think their personalities balanced each other perfectly. Plus, their growing relationship with Tammy and the attraction between them was down right hot!
HH: How did you go about creating their world for this story? MM: I’d like to say that I’m a master strategist, but the truth is their world evolved as I wrote the story. I equate it to a world inside a world. Humanity as we know it exists, but lurking in the shadows lays the unknown—a strange and wonderful world.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this book? MM: Pretending to walk in Tammy’s shoes. I couldn’t help sympathizing with how terrifying it would be to have your life ripped from you? Yet, what could be more frightening than to not understand the changes in your body, your newfound hunger—desires? Throw in two gorgeous men who shatter your disbelief that vampires and werewolves are myths and the world as you know it doesn’t exist. Let’s just say Tammy handled the situation better than I would have. <g>
HH: What challenges did you face? MM: Creating a paranormal world that is believable is always a challenge. Add to that a ménage a trois relationship and an omnipotent woman and you can see I had my work cut out for me. LOL It was a struggle finding ways to show Tammy’s strength, but still restrain her in some fashion.
HH: What are you working on now? MM: My favorite—cowboys!
Bound by the Past is a sequel to Bound for the Holidays. It’s about one woman’s struggle with the past and one man’s determination to conquer its influence. If you enjoy boots, spurs, and leather handcuffs look for my May 20th release at Samhain Publishing.
HH: What else do you have in store for readers in 2008? MM: I have exciting plans for 2008. February 6th Ellora’s Cave releases Destiny’s Touch, my first attempt at time travel. What a fun experience it was writing this book. I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
Next, Sand Angel releases April 9th. If you love a world of strong women, alpha men, dirt bikes, quads, sand rails, and the Sand Dunes of California then you won’t want to miss this one.
But there’s still more!
April 29th, Samhain Publishing is releasing in print another cowboy story of mine called Take Me,/b>. If you’re into intrigue and murder with your romance, look for Lost But Not Forgotten in print May 27th. Two more red-hot cowboy books: Bound by the Past releases in e-book May 20th and Take Me Again August 8th. Finally, Merry Christmas Paige, a story of second chance love, releases December 23rd.
HH: What do you enjoy reading? MM: I love historicals. Still, I’ll never pass up a good paranormal or a sexy contemporary. I guess you’d say I’m an equal opportunity reader. <g> I just enjoy a good book.
HH: What would you most like for readers to know about you? MM: I love writing. To know that I’m creating stories that entertain others is the biggest thrill of my life. Thank you for allowing me to share my imagination with all of you.
HH: Thank you!
