In the third book of this series, Electric Vamp, Sophie goes into her second year studying history and economics at USC as Jerry leaves the working world to start his undergrad degree in the school of Cinema-Television.
On campus and together again, their passion starts to erode their differences, and back on the beach below Gladstone's, they decide to focus on the future, and see if they can make it together again.
Reviews for Electric Vamp
"This fast-paced finale into the lives of Jerry and Sophie left me excited about their future. It was hard to see the series end because the books were great and, after the disastrous situations the couple faced in this book, it was doubtful there could be a hoped-for happy ending. This author has delivered an uplifting love story which expanded the ages of this young couple. Their interactions, both together and with their respective families, made them appear much more mature. This is a series not-to-be-missed. It is something that, no matter your genre preference, you will definitely enjoy." - 5 hearts, Brenda Talley, The Romance Studio

About Erica Leigh Madson
Erica Leigh Madson moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film business, but stayed for the mountains, the oceans and the desert.
She was a bookworm from a very early age, immersing herself in mysteries, science fiction and action adventures. Her first Playboy when she was 11 came as a surprise--the science fiction stories were pretty good but the magazine certainly had some weird ideas about female anatomy and sex.
Erica is branching out into a writing career after years of working in the Los Angeles film business in many different capacities. Her books are set against the industry she knows so well and the city where she has lived for the last 20 years. She wants to tell good stories that will appeal to women and the occasional intelligent male. Her other interests include skiing, motorcycles, hiking, baseball and, of course, the film business.

An Interview with Erica Leigh Madson
By Holly Hewson Marketing Director for The Romance StudioHH: Erica, welcome back to TRS. Please tell us about Electric Vamp. ELM: Electric Vamp concludes the first of my Ferguson Film Family trilogies. In most lives, relationships run into problems and so it is with Sophie and Jerry. The burning love of their initial romance and reconciliation enters a new phase and each faces issues that they both must come to terms with before they can commit to each other on a deeper level.
In Jerry’s case, someone tries to take advantage of him because he is a Ferguson and, being an honorable man, he is forced to decide between what he wants and what is right.
Sophie moves into a new world, putting her studies before her personal life and must function as an adult when faced with decisions which will influence the rest of her days.
HH: With the trilogy completed, how do you feel? ELM: Ready to move on to the next Ferguson Family romance, tentatively titled Ryder’s Revenge, which portrays the passionate romance of Jerry’s aunt Kathryn.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing of these two wonderful characters? ELM: How much fun each of them is. They whisper the most outrageous things in my ear as I grapple with their characters. Both Sophie and Jerry are young enough that they cannot yet share their deepest secrets with the other because they so desperately don’t want to disappoint the other. But they will share them with me.
HH: How’s the new trilogy coming with Jerry’s aunt and the Spanish cowboy? <g> ELM: Slowly. I ended up on a crazy film job – 80 to 90 hour weeks, calls at all hours – and am just getting back into writing now. Kathryn is such a different woman than Sophie –- sophisticated, scandalous, blatantly sexy, and lots of fun. And her cowboy has that wonderful Spanish sensuality that can sweep a woman off her feet, even one as worldly as Kathryn, and make her feel like she’s the queen of the country.
HH: Will we see any other characters from your Electric series? ELM: Absolutely. I plan on using all of Jerry’s family, young and old. Maybe not all in trilogies – but each has a story to tell of the intense love that drives them as people.
HH: There’s a growing debate about within our communities about traditional romance vs spicier romance. Erotic romance writers have been accused of writing “soft porn” and “purple prose”, yet their fiction continues grow in popularity in the current market. Where do you stand in this debate and why do you think the spicy romance is so popular now? ELM: I feel American women have been blinkered by the Puritan thought-cops for generations and are just now coming into their own. There is nothing wrong with sex. It is a wonderful, fulfilling expression of a woman’s physical being. As females, sex is as natural and necessary experience as eating or sleeping – and a lot more fun. My books try and celebrate that and show that sex and sensual feelings are normal and best enjoyed without moral criticism.
Hey, did you know that the biggest market for sexual lotions and potions and lingerie, usually sold at Tupperware-style parties, is the Bible Belt? Great way to maintain and enhance even the most traditional of relationships.
Spicier romance just legitimizes what women want. Enjoy it for what it is. It lets people live vicariously at a level where they might not be comfortable (but might hope to go in the future), it gives individuals ideas about how to rev up their love life and couples something to aspire to.
HH: How much time do you devote to your fiction writing to include writing, promotion, and everything else? ELM: I try and spend about 20 hours a week – which sometimes turns into a couple of 10 hour days but is more often 2 or 3 hours a day. Would love to spend more but am not famous enough to make a living at this yet. Soon, I hope, if all your readers start buying my books...
HH: How do you balance writing with a day job and the rest of your life? ELM: My work in the film business has always been about organizing, time management and problem solving. So I have the requisite skills. Some days I am just too physically tired, some days I don’t have the time (after a 16-hour day, I am less likely to sit down at the computer at one in the morning and create a coherent fantasy world). At other times I am emotionally drained by some event – personal issue or professional stress. But if at all possible, I make the time. Because, ultimately, I enjoy writing.
I love bringing Jerry and Sophie to life. The act of creation is an act of love and it can reward the writer with a surge of endorphins. Most pleasurable.
HH: What’s the most scandalous thing you’ve ever done? ELM: Mmm. Define scandal. One of the most wanton sexual experiences I had was on a trip through northern Nevada. We found a natural hot spring out in the desert and after a soak, sat on a bench drying off in the sun. We heard a growl in the distance. Local bikers out for an off-road experience? Or people on their way to invade our private idyll? There was a moment and then we were going at it under the wide blue Western sky, rolling scrubland from horizon to horizon. The only sign of civilization a line of phone poles in the far distance marking the highway east.
As the motors circled closer (thank the stars for windy roads unsculpted by any straight-line city planner), our love-making became more intense, more exciting as the potential for exposure drove our desire to new heights. Breathless with laughter and floating on orgasmic highs, we had managed to pull on our shorts when the first biker came over the hill.
HH: Any vacation plans this year? ELM: I’ll see what turns up. If I can get some time and money (at the same moment – never easy), my current list of desired destinations include sailing the Galapagos Islands with a side trip to Machu Picchu, Iceland for the hot springs, or a motorcycle tour of Australia.
HH: Thank you!
