An Interview with Kathy Kulig
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Kathy, welcome back to TRS! Please tell us about your featured work, Wild Jade.

KK: In Wild Jade an ancient supernatural mystery returns to the sultry jungle, igniting dangerous obsession and untamed passion. When an archaeology student and her director uncover a 1,300 year-old tragic love story, one in which they were directly connected in a past life, a new menace threatens their project and their lives. Will history repeat itself?

HH: Ancient curses, great danger, and two people who may repeat the past. Where did you get the idea for this amazing story?

KK: After visiting the Mayan pyramids in Tikal, Guatemala, I was fascinated by the history, the structures, and intricate carvings that had survived in the jungle for centuries. And trying to imagine what life was like during that ancient time initiated the ideas for the story.

HH: What do you like best about Deven?

KK: Deven is smart, handsome and driven by his work, but his crew and the woman he loves comes first. I love his strength and loyalty. His great scientific mind is also his flaw because he can’t see the mystical or supernatural side of things.

HH: What sort of research was required for this project?

KK: Since I traveled to the area and climbed the pyramids, I had a feel for the atmosphere and learned a bit of the history. I did get in touch with an archaeologist and read a number of reference books for the rest.

HH: What did you enjoy most about writing it?

KK: The adventure and love scenes are always a rush to write.

HH: What are you working on now?

KK: I have a number of projects in the works. I have a witch and shapeshifter story, a sexy paranormal series and a sexy contemporary story.

HH: What else do you have in store for readers in 2008?

KK: I think 2008 is going to be exciting, and I’m hoping to have a couple releases later this year.

HH: What do you enjoy about being a writer?

KK: The process of creating a story, the wonderful surprise when a new twist just drops into my head, getting into the “zone” when I’m writing and three hours have gone by and it seemed like twenty minutes, and I’ve finished the chapter or a scene. Also making friends with other writers. They are the best people.

HH: How do you keep things fresh for yourself in your writing?

KK: I allow my husband to pry my fingers off the keyboard and go out for fun. Read a variety of books. Continue to learn my craft.

HH: What do you enjoy reading?

KK: Mostly sexy paranormal and sexy contemporary romance, but I do read thrillers and sci. if too.

Thanks so much for having me.

HH: Thank you!
