The Bellair family returns in the standalone sequel to One Juror Down.

Moonlight-dappled water, a luxurious boat and a handsome man in the next slip. Life at the South Seattle Marina is heavenly. Georgia Bellair and her four-year-old daughter Abby have been reunited after a tough couple of years and it’s time for a few days relaxation before moving into their new home together.

Available in March from Cerridwen Press

The marina seemed peaceful enough when they arrived on a thirty-five foot sloop. Georgia would never have gone near it though, if she’d realized a cult was operating on the calm waters of Puget Sound, and the cult leader thinks drinking Abby’s innocent blood will make him a full chiang-shih, a Chinese vampire.

Bounty hunter Yun MacCready is investigating a series of break-ins reportedly caused by a bail jumper at the marina. He doesn’t expect to get involved with a beautiful blonde, much less work to rescue her kidnapped daughter from a vampire cult. Nor could he have expected this family’s complicated past would come back to haunt them in the form of one gang lord Oscar Nesell. Evil is storming the gates of heaven…

An Interview with Heather Hiestand
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Heather, welcome to The Romance Studio! Please tell us about your featured work, Two on the Hunt.

HH: Two on the Hunt (out from Cerridwen Press on March 20th) is the sequel to last summer’s One Juror Down. Both books are set in the Seattle area and the heroines are sisters who run afoul of a local drug lord. Here is the official blurb:

Moonlight-dappled water, a luxurious boat and a handsome man in the next slip. Life at the South Seattle Marina is heavenly. Georgia Bellair and her four-year-old daughter Abby have been reunited after a tough couple of years and it’s time for a few days relaxation before moving into their new home together.

HH: A mom looking for peace and a dangerous bounty hunter meet in a dangerous place. Where did you get the idea for this suspense filled story?

HH: First of all the idea came from having completed the first book and still having questions. The heroine of One Juror Down had a sister with serious issues. I continued to be intrigued with my bad guys from the first book too. What kept me interested was the fun of setting the book in a marina and doing a slightly different kind of hero. I used to take walks at a local marina with a good friend, and I had that happy feeling of being on the water with her while writing every page of the book.

HH: What do you like best about your two leading characters?

HH: Georgia has had some failures in her life, but she’s almost got her life back under control. Taking away her happiness was heartbreaking but she really grows through her struggles. With Yun, I didn’t know him as well at first, so the book was a journey of discovery in terms of figuring out what made him tick. I also found him very sexy!

HH: Why do you enjoy writing suspense?

HH: Suspense and mystery come more naturally to me than romance, in some ways. I think my brain thinks in terms of plot as much as it does characters. I didn’t read romance until my early twenties so that’s probably part of why romantic suspense is more natural to me than straight romance.

HH: What are you working on now?

HH: Right now my alter ego Anh Leod is at work on a sequel to my upcoming Ellora’s Cave novella, Claudia’s Passion. I’m having a lot of fun with my Hollywood setting. It’s great to imagine that Los Angeles sunshine at this time of year in cloudy Washington State!

HH: What’s a typical day like for you?

HH: Is there a typical day? I’m not working outside of my home at the moment, so my day is a mishmash of getting my husband off to work so I can do email, promotion, writing, job hunting, exercise and the usual chores. It’s not terribly exciting but it’s a real luxury not to have heavy priorities before writing.

HH: What do you do when you get stuck in a story?

HH: Usually I get stuck when I’m missing something – I don’t understand the character or setting well enough, that kind of thing. Sometimes to get unstuck I need a good night’s sleep so my subconscious can figure it all out. Other times I need to do my research.

HH: How do you celebrate a good review or a new sale?

HH: I find it best to celebrate a good review by finding another one, and a new sale by making another one. The day my first novel (Cards Never Lie) came out, I did have dinner out with friends, but I also made another sale that day, which was very satisfying.

HH: What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?

HH: German chocolate cake and watching movies or bad reality TV with my husband.

HH: Can readers catch you at any conferences or conventions this year?

HH: It looks like I’m staying close to home this year and just speaking locally, but I’ll be popping up as a guest blogger here and there. I can always be found at my website, www.heatherhiestand.com. I have a newsletter, blog, MySpace and Facebook accounts too. My local Romance Writers of America chapter is at http://www.rosecityromancewriters.com. I’ll be at our April Reader’s Luncheon so see the website for more details if you live in the Pacific Northwest.

HH: Thank you!
