![]() | ![]() Originally from Kansas, like Dorothy, I've flown all around the world. Instead of a tornado, I did use the easier and more available airplane, though. Finally landing here in Arizona, and I've never been the same.
As a child, I wrote poems to put in home made greeting cards. So you could say I've been writing since I was about three. As I grew older, my love for reading expanded. In high school I began reading fantasy and romance. I soaked up anything I could get my hands on. In my senior year my I was on the year book staff and in college I wrote some non-fiction articles. My dream to write ignited.
After high school and college I began my career in nursing. Having a family, going to school, and working took most of my time. But I always kept the dream.
I stayed in nursing for over twenty years. During the last six, I began to study herbs and their uses in the middle ages. 1997 brought my dream to the forefront again, this time not to be hidden. I began working on children's stories, but they always turned out to be romances. They had faeries, shape-shifters, and other fantasy/paranormal elements. Looking back, I've had a pretty active life full of travel, family and reading. My home library takes up over twelve book cases, at least one in every room.
Five years ago I put away my children's tales and began to write romance exclusively. After two or three false starts, which are filed for future revision, I began "Never To Love." I find romance to be a most exciting genre.
Three years ago I joined RWA and the local chapter in Phoenix "Desert Rose." You could look forever and not find a more friendly, helpful group.
Recently I joined some other Arizona writers groups, listed on the Links page. They are also some very wonderful people to be acquainted with. I've been to so many conferences in the last few years, I've lost count. I met my current editor last year, and here I am with my first book about to be published. And this is only the beginning.
Anyway, enough of my past. Now I start the day at about seven am by reading e-mail and gulping coffee for the two hours. It usually takes me that long to be fully awake enough to start writing. The coffee gets my motor revved and I don't stop until dinner time. Thanks for listening to my banter, and whatever you do have fun and enjoy the ride!
