Vonda Sinclair

Gwyneth Carswell, an English lady banished by her father to the harsh Scottish Highlands, wants nothing more than to take her young son away from the violence of two fighting clans--her own distant kin, the MacIrwins, and their enemies, the MacGraths. She risks everything to rescue the fierce MacGrath warrior from the battlefield where he's left for dead by her clan. She only knows she is inexplicably drawn to him and he wants peace as she does. When her clan learns of her betrayal, they seek vengeance. Dare she trust the enemy more than her own family?

Laird Alasdair MacGrath is driven to end two-hundred years of feuding with the MacIrwins. But by taking in and protecting Lady Gwyneth and her son, he provokes more attacks from his mortal enemy. As the danger and conflict surrounding them escalate, Alasdair and Gwyneth discover an explosive passion neither of them expected. With the arrival of a powerful man from her past, a horrible decision confronts her--give up her son or the man she loves.

Reviews for My Fierce Highlander

"Overall, I felt like I was reading a nice combination of Julie Garwood and Johanna Lindsey and although I have never heard of this author until now, I am already a fan. Vonda Sinclair did an amazing job writing an entertaining highland romance. It was fluid and wonderfully paced which allowed me as a reader to savour the character's emotions and events written within the pages. I look forward to the next installment in this highly anticipated series." Escape Between the Pages

"This book starts off strong. I started around 10pm and ended up reading it straight through til 2am! I kept saying to myself "As soon as I find a stopping point, I'll put it down," but I just kept on reading... This was my first Vonda Sinclair read, and it won't be my last. The Highland Hussy decrees that Ms. Sinclair is a fantastic writer, who brought so much of the reality of fighting and feuding Highlanders to the pages, that it was easy to visualize and sympathize with Gwyneth." Demon Lovers Books and More

"Vonda writes with so much passion, you can feel like you are right there in the mist of what's happening... I was very impressed and screaming for more." Laurie at Bitten By Paranormal Romance

"Sinclair delivers a plot that is enticing and moved fluidly with captivating characters full of dimension that were brought to life on the pages. The romance was balanced nicely with action and suspense. I was caught breathless during the most romantic scenes ever, being drawn in by Alasdair and Gwyneth's sizzling chemistry and fiery passion....I would recommend this book to all Scottish romance lovers or romance/historical romance readers in general." An Interview with Vonda Sinclair
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Vonda, thank you for talking with us at TRS! Your featured book is My Fierce Highlander and is the thrilling tale of a woman caught between two feuding clans and the warrior she saves amid the violence. Where did you get the idea for this series?

VS: Thank you for the opportunity to visit with your readers! The idea for My Fierce Highlander came to me in a dream or as I was waking up one morning. The scene where Gwyneth saves Alasdair's life was playing out in my head. Usually it's the hero saving the heroine in a romance, but I wanted to turn this on its head. I'd been wanting to write a Scottish historical romance. The idea for a series didn't come to me until later when a secondary character came so vividly to life.

HH: How does My Fierce Highlander kick it off?

VS: Alasdair, a Highland chief, is injured and knocked unconscious on the battlefield after an ambush. Gwyneth, a healer, finds him alive and she and her friend drag him to safety. Since he's from the enemy clan, she's risking her life and that of her son by saving Alasdair, but she knows the risk is worth it. Not only is he carrying a peace treaty, but something about him draws her.

HH: How does My Wild Highlander continue it?

VS: Lachlan, the hero of My Wild Highlander, is the brother of Alasdair. Lachlan was in book one of the series as a secondary character, and he came vividly to life on the page. He is such a fun, charming rogue I knew he would need his own story. As the story opens, we see Lachlan in a compromising position and unbeknownst to him, his future bride hearing something she shouldn't. He is the first to admit he thought he'd never commit to one woman and marry. But the king's generous offer and Angelique, a vulnerable but prickly half-French lass in need of his protection, change his mind.

HH: What else do you have in store for readers in this series?

VS: I'm working on Dirk's story. Dirk is one of Lachlan's best friends. I also want to write their friend Rebbie's story.

HH: What sort of research did you do for this series?

VS: I search for historical details I need in nonfiction books. One great thing about the internet is a lot of 100+ year old books have been digitized and are in the public domain. A lot of these books are on Scottish history, also travelogues or diaries of people back in history who visited Scotland. Plus, with digital books, you can do keyword searches in them to find the info you need quickly. But my favorite way to research is in person. I enjoy visiting Scotland and exploring historic sites and castles. Nothing is better for capturing the real look, feel and atmosphere of Scotland.

HH: What else do you have in the works?

VS: Right now I'm focusing on Dirk's story. It's still unnamed at the moment. I'm hoping to bring alive the areas of Sutherland and northern Scotland, an incredibly beautiful place which treats its inhabitants to harsh weather at times.

HH: How do you view the future of ebooks?

VS: I think the future of ebooks will only get brighter because everyone loves their Kindles, Nooks and other ereaders. You can carry a whole library in the palm of your hand instead of the books taking up a whole room.

HH: How much of your day is devoted to your writing career?

VS: I generally write part of the day and promote part of the day for a total of about eight hours.

HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?

VS: On blogs, Twitter, Facebook and email. You can find me here:

HH: Any conference or appearance plans this fall?

VS: Not in person, but I'll be making several appearances on blogs. I usually announce these on Twitter and Facebook so please follow me there if you'd like to check out some of my guest posts. I'll be giving away prizes. Thanks!

HH: Thank you!
