"One of the pure joys of reading a Quinn novel is the incredible visual nature of her writing." RT Book Reviews
“I love it when an author gives me something so different than what I’ve ever read before, and Ms. Quinn definitely does that." The Good, the Bad and the Unread
HH: Erin, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Shake It Up and it's the first in your Love, With a Twist series. What can readers look forward to in this exciting new series?
EQ: Actually, the series is unique because although it has 3 books, the stories unfold simultaneously so they can be read in any order at all. The stories link 3 friends who have all been given a dire prediction by a gypsy--find love by Valentine's Day or lose everything. EVERYTHING. The friends are co-owners of the trendy martini bar and bistro called With a Twist and they've worked so hard to see it succeed that they will do anything to keep it. But love has a way of dancing to its own tune, and for each of the women, the task of finding love proves to be a challenge.
HH: How does Shake It Up kick off the series?
EQ: Shaking It Up is Daisy L'Amore's story. Daisy has never had much luck with finding a good man. In fact, she's a bit gun shy after having her heart broken so many times. But when the crystal heart that came with the gypsy's predictions casts it's meaningful glow on the man who walks through Daisy's door, Daisy is willing to give love another try. The only problem? The man the crystal heart picked is not the one who's making her pulse race and her knees weak. That award goes to Rome Corazón, the sexy bad boy sitting at her bar. Daisy wants to do the right thing, but how can something so wrong feel so right?
HH: What do you like best about Daisy and why will readers relate to her?
EQ: Daisy is afraid to pursue her dreams. She has taken the safe road so many times, she doesn't even realize that there might be another way. Rome helps her connect with her dreams and promises to be there for her, even if they don't come true.
HH: What do you like best about Romeo and why will readers love him?
EQ: Rome is...sigh. Rome is the man we all dream about. He's a man's man, and yet he has a softer side. He sees beneath the surface and is willing to do whatever it takes to make Daisy his.
HH: What can you tell us about the books to come in this series?
EQ: Although the stories are linked by friendship, the martini bar the women co-own, and the gyspy's prophecy, each story is as unique as the characters in it. In Calista Fox's Dirtying It Up, Jasmine must make up her mind about a man she's been circling for years. In Mary Leo's Stirring It Up, Rose must learn to trust the man who's betrayed her in the past. We had so much fun writing these stories!.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
EQ: Also just released is Web of Smoke--my debut novel which has been off bookshelves for years. Web of Smoke is a taut romantic suspense that is set in San Diego. I've been told it's quite the page turner. It is available in both print and eBook.
HH: What goals have you set for yourself at this point in your career?
EQ: My New Year's resolution was to reconnect with the joy of writing and write exactly what I want. So far, I am doing that. I have so many stories to tell and I love that I can do short novella's like Shaking it Up as well as full length novels. I have the best readers in the world and I'm so excited about keeping the books coming!
HH: What sources of inspiration do you draw from for ideas?
EQ: Air? Seriously, inspiration comes from the strangest places. I am inspired daily.
HH: What's the best book you read in 2011?
EQ: I think my favorite 2011 book was Defiant by Kris Kennedy. I love her voice, her characters and storytelling. (Historical Romance)
HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2012?
EQ: Launching a new paranormal series (too early to discuss) and releasing another Mists of Ireland story.
HH: Thank you!
