Reviews for Soul Bound
RT Top Pick!
“With the first book in her Dark Souls series, Hope gives readers a page-turning love story about two lost souls. Her worldbuilding is on par with Sherrilyn Kenyon, and she tortures her characters just as much! The secondary characters, with their own superpowers and faults, add to the fun. Can’t wait for book two!” --4.5 Stars, Karen Sweeny-Justice, Romantic Times Book Reviews

About Anne Hope
Anne Hope is the author of emotionally intense romances with a twist -- a twist of humor, a twist of suspense, a twist of magic. All her stories, however, have a common thread. Whether they make you laugh or cry or push you to the edge of your seat, they all feature the redeeming power of love and the heart’s incredible ability to heal.
Anne’s passion for writing began at the age of eight. After penning countless stories about enchanted houses, alien girls with supernatural powers and children constantly getting lost in the woods, she decided to try her hand at romance.
She lives in Montreal, Canada, with her husband, her two inexhaustible kids, a lazy cat and a rambunctious Australian Kelpie.

An Interview with Anne Hope
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Anne, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Soul Bound and it's the first in your new Dark Souls series. First what can you tell us about the series itself?
AH: My new Dark Souls series is my most exciting project yet, featuring fallen angels and their cursed offspring. It’s a classic tale of good vs. evil, where a powerful cast of heroes and heroines fight to protect humanity against the dark forces that threaten to destroy it.
There’s a fine line between redemption and damnation, and the heroes and heroines featured in the Dark Souls series walk it every day. In order to prevent a looming Apocalypse, they must battle not only their own kind, but the darkness crouching within them. As the story unfolds, their hearts will be tested over and over again, forcing them to face their demons and make tough sacrifices.
HH: How does Soul Bound kick it off?
AH: With murder! In the first scene, the hero, Jace Cutler, is stabbed to death, only to awaken hours later in a hospital room. His wound is gone, but so is his memory... along with his soul.
HH: What do you like best about Lia and why will readers relate to her?
AH: There are a lot of things I like about Lia. She’s intelligent and competent, but she’s also caring and vulnerable. Lia is a nurturer, a healer, but that doesn’t stop her from becoming a warrior when the situation calls for it. Her love for her sister humanizes her, as does her guilt when she begins to fall for the very man her sister once dated.
HH: What do you like best about Jace and why will readers love him?
AH: Jace is the reluctant hero, the bad boy who deep down inside longs to be good, even if he refuses to admit it to himself. He’s made mistakes, but he’s not afraid to own up to them. What I like best about him is his inner strength. His fierce desire to protect Lia, even as he struggles to subdue the growing darkness inside him, makes him sympathetic and heroic to me, not to mention irresistibly sexy!
HH: How did you go about creating the world in which their story takes place?
AH: I’ve always been a huge fan of the paranormal genre. Immortal beings fascinate me, particularly fallen angels, so I decided to do some research on the subject. When I came across the myth of the Nephilim, I knew these were the creatures I wanted to write about. They seemed perfect -- strong, powerful, sinfully corrupt, and their existence was shrouded in enough mystery to give flight to my imagination. Right there and then, the cast for my Dark Souls series was born.
When I began writing Soul Bound, I took all the information I’d gathered and stirred in a little of my own creativity. As the story progressed, the world slowly came together for me.
HH: What can you tell us about the books to come in this series?
AH: I’ve recently completed book two in the series, which will feature Marcus and Regan, two characters introduced in Soul Bound. Writing Marcus and Regan’s story was tremendous fun. These characters have a lot of history. They’ve been partners for years, but despite the sizzling attraction between them, their relationship has always been strictly platonic. The vow of celibacy they took when they joined the Watchers has prevented them from acting on their feelings for one another... until now.
Regan is impulsive and reckless, the ultimate kickass heroine with a smart mouth and a tender heart. Marcus is the rock, the responsible one. Duty has always come first for him. But when Regan goes rogue to protect a very special little boy whose soul is capable of great destruction, Marcus is forced to make an impossible choice -- commit an act of treason or watch the woman he secretly loves die.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
AH: I anticipate a total of four books in the Dark Souls series, plus a novella. Right now, I’m working on the novella, which is a prequel to Soul Bound and stars Marcus’s son, Adrian, a character I introduce in book two. Adrian’s story will continue in book three, where he will be reunited with his soul mate. The final book will be Cal’s. As the leader of the Watchers, Cal figures prominently throughout the series. In book four, I’ll finally tell his story and reveal all his secrets! I also plan to challenge him like I’ve never challenged him before, forcing him to choose between love and the fate of mankind.
HH: Where can readers find all of your works?
AH: My books are available in bookstores and online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Chapters, Samhain and wherever books are sold. Where Dreams Are Made and Broken Angels are both available in print and in eBook format. Soul Bound is currently only available as an eBook but is scheduled to come out in print May 2013.
HH: What in person or online appearances will you be making this year?
AH: I will be blogging at several romance sites this June -- Fresh Fiction, Romance Readers at Heart, RomCon, Book Binge, Samhain, to name a few. I will also be attending the RWA National Conference in Anaheim in July.
HH: When you're not reading or promoting you like to __________?
AH: Spend time with my family, whether it’s watching TV, walking the dog, relaxing on the beach or lounging by the pool (with a good book in hand, of course).
HH: Thank you!
