Reviews for Swoon
“Don't miss SWOON by Rolynn Anderson! If you like an interesting cast of characters, a heavy dose of mystery and a lot of fabulous surprises, you'll be happily turning pages late into the night."
~ Brenda Novak, NYT and USA Bestselling Author of WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES
"This is the second in Ms. Anderson's Funeral Planner series, and I really enjoyed the continued character/relationship development in this installment. For those leery of the idea of a romance/suspense set in the funeral industry, I can only say give it a chance, and you'll find the unique premise is actually a good fit. More action and more plot twists than the first book, Fadeout, made for a page-turner that I couldn't put down. I'm excited to see where these characters go from here!" ~ Laura Ross (Amazon)
"After reading "FADEOUT" I couldn't wait to get started on "SWOON".....it was a short two week wait. I was excited to see how my new friends were going to manage the challenges that came with the boutique funeral planning business. I found myself sneaking off with my iPad to our local coffee shop, turning my phone off and immersing myself in lives of Jan, Roman, Pete, the General Bella, and of course Elly! Another "page-turner" from Rolynn. Waiting with bated breath for number three in the series!" ~ Susie Miner (Amazon)

An Interview with Rolynn Anderson
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Rolynn, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Swoon and it’s the second in your Funeral Planner series. Where did you get the idea for this clever series?
RA: Thanks for inviting me to tell you about SWOON.
How in the world did I make a detective agency out the funeral planner business? My mind works in such mysterious ways. Here’s the serious part: When my dad died in 2005, of Alzheimer’s, my sisters and brothers and I were determined to choreograph a memorial that reminded everyone in attendance of the joy in our father’s life. Plus, lots of children were in the room-we had a teachable moment at hand. When the traditional rituals left us cold, we went warm. . . lighter and more creative than you’ve ever experienced in a funeral! So I began thinking about boutique funeral planning. . . I made up the term. What would happen if a bright woman got roped into planning funerals for people who took secrets to their graves? The series was born!
HH: What can you tell us about the first story in the series, Fadeout?
RA: Poor Jan Solvang gets roped into helping her dad plan funerals after Jan’s mom dies of cancer. Jan left a guy in Seattle, quit a job, and now she’s in California in an empty house and a crazy job! A former high tech administrator with a fainting disorder planning quirky funerals? No way! She’s inherited her mother’s weird Scottie, Elwood, and she doesn’t get along with her father. What’s more, she has a propensity to dig deeply into the lives of her dead clients, which causes a ton of trouble. Now add, Roman Keller, a truth-telling writer of documentaries, who’s drawn to Jan in ways that upend his carefully planned career.
HH: How does Swoon continue it?
RA: Locked and loaded. Jan Solvang ‘gets’ boutique funeral planning by now and she actually relishes the quirkiest of cases, especially when the dead seem to beg her for help. See, Jan’s got a fainting disorder. . . when she faints, her dreams draw her into intrigue and danger. The suspense quotient goes up when her FADEOUT boyfriend, Roman, is driven nuts by the chaos.
HH: What do you like best about Jan and why will readers empathize with her?
RA: She’s bright, but a mistake she made in her past and her Syncope (fainting disorder) have kept her from living and loving fully. She’s learning what passion is and the risks involved in following her heart, along with dealing with the Syncope. Like all of us, she is a work in progress.
HH: What do you like best about Roman and why will readers love him?
RA: Roman is brilliant and driven and passionate about telling the truth, but he falls for Jan, who presents him with shades of gray regarding truth-telling. The reader will see Roman’s point of view and love him for his verve, but the reader will also understand that for him to love Jan, he’ll have to give up some of his ‘rules’ about life.
HH: What can you tell us about the books to come in the series?
RA: FADEOUT was all about learning how to take risks in a career and in love; SWOON takes suspense and romance to yet another level of intensity. FAINT? That baby is going to be a thriller!
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
RA: I can’t wait for you to read LIE CATCHERS, set in Petersburg, Alaska. A double murder, one old and one new; a heavy dose of Norwegian heritage. A heroine with savantism and a Treasury Agent hero. The suspense and the romance are off the charts!
HH: How does 2013 promise to be different from 2012 for you?
RA: I’m looking forward to asking my readers for ideas for my third book in the Funeral Planner Suspense series. I enjoy hearing how the series characters and plot resonate with them; I can’t wait to surprise them with book three of the series!
HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?
RA: I talk about my books and sell lots of them in marina’s (My husband and I spend the summer on our boat roaming the Inside Passage of the Pacific Northwest). It’s a thrill to have a boater hail me over the VHF system, telling me how much he loved reading my book!
HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2013?
RA: Two more novels out (FAINT and LIE CATCHERS) and the chance to talk about my books locally (in California). It’s a goal of mine to publicize locally, because the funeral planner series takes place in California, my second home.
HH: Thank you!
