On the run in Washington, D.C. from a cop who cares more about
inflicting pain than serving justice, Remy Capra grabs a handful of
coins and jumps out a window. She lands seventy-five years back in
time and across a continent in Los Angeles -- at the feet of bounty
hunter Nathan Pierce. Remy isn't like any woman's he's ever met. She's
street-smart and sassy, but she needs help, and Nathan, against his
own better judgement, offers it. Danger looms on all sides: Remy might
be whisked back to her own time at any moment, a murderous gang lord
is after them, and then there's the mystery of the Silver Maiden, a
mystical coin with strange powers. Remy and Nathan may have a future
-- if she can evade her own past, and if they manage to keep alive in
the ever-threatening present . . .

An Interview with Jamie Craig
By Holly Hewson Marketing Director for The Romance Studio
HH: Welcome to TRS! Please tell us about your featured work,
Chasing Silver.
JC: Chasing Silver is an urban fantasy, but I don't think it's a typical
urban fantasy. Instead of vampires and werewolves and paranormal
investigators, we have time travel, gang lords, and mystical coins.
Nathan Pierce is a bounty hunter in 2008 in Los Angeles. Remy Capra is
on the run in 2083 in Washington DC. When she picks up a handful of
coins, she finds herself transported to Los Angeles--and Nathan
Pierce's feet. Remy thinks it's her second chance. Nathan just wants
to figure out who she is and how to keep them both alive. It was
released in December through Juno Books.
HH: What's special about this particular story? JC: Chasing Silver was the first book I and Vivien Dean wrote together. We
had collaborated on little things before, but Chasing Silver is our
first novel. It holds a very special place in our heart, and we
completely fell in love with Nathan and Remy (and our secondary
characters, too!). Not only that, but I think it is an amazing love
story and a great adventure.
HH: Where did you get the idea for this sizzling story?
JC: I don't know where we get any of our ideas, lol. Vivien wanted to
write some sort of fantasy or paranormal. At the time, paranormals
were very much not my genre. Too often, I find I cannot suspend my
disbelief. After a long discussion, we decided to write about time
travel, and we decided the agent of the time travel should be a
mystical coin. Everything fell into place after that, and we did a lot
of plotting as we wrote.
HH: What, in your opinion, makes this story hotter than 1615 degrees Fahrenheit? JC: All the hot sex! Now, don't get me wrong. Chasing Silver is a romance
and an urban fantasy, but Remy and Nathan have a very physical
relationship. Nathan has some scars--physically and emotionally--that
make it difficult for him to deal with emotions. Remy has her own
issues. But they connect on a very basic, very fundamental level. They
are very attracted to each other. Their relationship unfolds and
evolves through sex--hot sex. I'd say it's probably hotter than other
books Juno has published!
HH: What's it like writing as a team? JC: It's great. Sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge, but it is always
a lot of fun. Vivien and I are incredibly close. We're more than just
collaborators. She's also my best friend. So there is a great deal of
love and respect between us. It helps that I am one of Vivien's
biggest fans. It is also incredibly exciting. We love what we do. We
love the worlds we create together. We love the characters we create
together. It really is the best job in the world.
HH: How did you get started working together? JC: We knew each other for years because we were both involved in the
Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom. Vivien wrote fanfic and I adored her,
and her work. Despite the fact we knew of each other, we never talked
or interacted in any way. But we did have a mutual friend (Phillipa
Grey-Gerou) who introduced us. We began chatting. Then we began
writing fanfic together. Then we realized we had a lot of stories to
tell and our own characters to play with, and I suggested to Vivien we
try our hand at a novel. That was when we began working on Chasing
Silver.
HH: What are you working on now?
JC: We regularly juggle several projects at once. We are working on the
second sequel to Chasing Silver, which is still untitled, but will be
released in Dec 2008. We are also working on a new urban fantasy
series that we hope to sell to Juno Books. We're writing a
contemporary western, also untitled, just to shake things up a bit.
It's weird that all these books are currently untitled. Usually,
Vivien starts with a title.
HH: What do you have in store for readers in 2008?
JC: A lot! First, we have Touching Silver, a sequel to Chasing Silver,
that is going to be released in June 2008. We have a series of gay
romances through Amber Quill Press called The Calendar Boys. We're
releasing one novella a month featuring a monthly theme. January is
the Super Bowl. February is Valentine's Day. March is St. Patrick's
Day. We also have several other novellas in a variety of PAX
collections with Amber Quill Press. We have a pretty good mix.
Fortune's Honor is a contemporary western. A Little Bit Bewitched is a
paranormal threesome. My Masked Mistress is a straight BDSM with a
female domme! We also recently sold a full-length novel to Samhain
called A Hidden Beauty. It's a historical romance between two gay
poets, set in 1840 New England. We also have the final four books of
the Master Chronicles. Believe it or not, that's the short list.
HH: What do you each enjoy reading? JC: I don't enjoy reading anymore. Okay, that's a joke. I'm currently an
MA candidate, so I do a lot of reading. Unfortunately, I rarely read
for pleasure these days. I'm currently reading a wonderful books
called "Lord Byron's Novel: The Evening Land" by John Crowley. Any
fans of Lord Byron or the Romantics in general should check it out.
Vivien reads a lot of erotic romance and fantasy and anything else
that catches her attention. I'm acutely jealous of her freedom to read
whatever grabs her attention!
HH: What would you like readers to know about you? JC: We love variety. We write het romance. We write gay romance. We write
threesomes. We write paranormals, contemporaries, BDSM, and even a few
historicals. We write novels that are super long, and we write short
novellas. We write books that have a strong emphasis on erotica, and
we have a few that are just very sweet romances. In other words, we
don't stick with a particular genre or theme. We write what inspires
us. We write love stories for everybody.
Thanks!
HH: Thank you!
