“...all three main characters really made me care about them. They are all considerate of each other and don’t want to do anything to ruin any of the friendships amongst them. ...sex wasn't the only thing orgasmic in this story -- chocolate body paint anyone? Like Corey or Matt would say this story is “so good”. And believe me they say that a lot especially in the heat of the moment. I am curious to see where this series will take us next...”

An Interview with Kelly Jamieson
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Kelly, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is With Strings Attached and features three sizzling characters. Where did you get the idea for their emotionally-engaging story?
KJ:Thank you so much for having me here!
Really the whole story came from Matt. I wanted to write a hero who was different – not an ultra-dominant, alpha hero, but a nice guy. The challenge was to make him a nice guy without making him a wimpy doormat. He’s still sexy (and he doesn’t know it!) and protective and very male. But his past encounters with women who want to tame a bad boy and don’t want to date a good guy made him believe maybe he’s not really worthy of love.
HH: What do you like best about Corey and why will readers empathize with her?
KJ: Corey is someone who stays positive in the face of adversity. She had a rough childhood but she’s the kind of person who makes the best of things. She managed to get her life on track and she’s determined to succeed at her chosen career (which is a little unusual -- she’s a chocolatier, and makes very expensive, high end chocolates). She learned early in life that the only person she can count on is herself, which makes her heart a little closed off to love. She’s very independent -- I think we can all empathize with a woman whose car breaks down and hates having to ask someone for help! And we all want to be someone who helps other people who are dealing with difficult times.
HH: What do you like best about Matt and Dylan and why will readers love them?
KJ: As teenagers, Matt felt lucky that his best friend was such a chick magnet because Dylan always included him. Dylan felt lucky to have Matt as a friend, because he helped him with the school work he sucked at. Dylan wanted to be outside, on the water, surfing, not sitting in a classroom. Their mutual respect and gratitude has created a strong bond between them, and they’re best friends even though Dylan spends his life travelling the world, but there’s also a little competitive edge between them. Dylan’s driven to succeed where Matt is more laid back and happy with what he has. But they really care about each other and don’t want to hurt each other. They’re also both really sexy and fun!
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story and what do you think readers will take away from it?
KJ: I’m always a sucker for a friends to lovers story, and this one has a bit of a twist – the friends, Corey and Matt, are already lovers. They’re friends with benefits, no strings attached. This works great for both of them. But I really love how they come to discover what’s been right in front of them all along, and I love how Dylan helps them find that.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
KJ: In February, I’ll be releasing the much-requested fourth book in my Heller brothers hockey series – Hat Trick. This is a novella that finally ties up the loose end that’s been hanging since Breakaway. J And then in March, I’m releasing the first book in a four book series I collaborated on with three other authors. Our books are all standalone stories, but they all take place around a central event – a wedding that goes disastrously wrong. My book, Jilted, is the first, and it’s story of the groom.
HH: How does 2013 promise to be different from 2012 for you?
KJ: Well, one thing that’s different is that my year is all planned out in terms of releases! So right now I’m working on books for 2014. It’s nice knowing that far ahead what’s coming up. I also hope 2013 will be more productive for me. I had a lot of family things going on in 2012 with some ageing relatives who needed care, and that took a lot of time away from writing.
HH: Where do you find inspiration for your stories?
KJ: Everywhere! It seems lately I’ve gotten a few ideas from the Miss Lonelyhearts advice column in my local newspaper! Magazines articles, news items, hockey games… =)
HH: What's your writing schedule like?
KJ: I don’t have a schedule at all. I have a full time day job and a family, so my goal is to write whenever I possibly can -- evenings, weekend, even my lunch break at work!
HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?
KJ: I love Twitter and I’m getting better at Facebook. Readers message me both those places and even through Goodreads, but of course basic email is great too. I love hearing from readers any way they want!
HH:What are you most looking forward to in 2013?
KJ: It’s always exciting to meet up in person with all the people I hang out with on line, so I’m looking forward to the RT Booklovers Convention in May. And just writing lots, because I love to write!
HH: Thank you!
