A strange summons on her computer lands Jen in Jason's universe, a place of danger and badly written science fiction. Oh no! Spider Princesses, angry revolutionaries and a ship built for sex on the run--Jason Bell's universe is not to be trifled with. Can Jen make it out in one piece? And who will suffer the consequences of an author's presence in her own work?
Reviews for The Bell Curve
5/5 and a reviewer top pick from Night Owl Romance. "Ms. Amelia June once again delivers an imaginative, laugh-out-loud story full of wit and plot twists. A goofy, irresistible dolt of a guy with a voracious libido, Jason is a terrifically fun hero. And Jen with her go-with-the-flow attitude is his perfect counterpart." - Vee
4/5 from Two Lips Reviews. "I loved the way Jen and Jason bravely faced the challenges presented in this fictitious world while taking time out, of course, to engage in some fantastic sex on a spaceship built for such activity!" - Victoria

An Interview with Amelia June
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio
HH: Amelia, welcome to TRS BLUE! Please tell us about your featured work, The Bell Curve.AJ: The Bell Curve is a story of adventure and danger, strange happenings and even stranger characters. Jen, the fan fiction writer of Jason Bell's campy sci fi tales finds herself stuck inside her own story's universe. The story chronicles her adventures inside badly written sci fi.
HH: Where did you get the idea for this incredible story of Jason Bell's world and its author? AJ: The original Jason Bell was created as a gift for my husband--he's always got some crazy idea for me to write, and many of Jason Bell's exploits come from my husband's wacky ideas. Once created, it seemed only natural to bring him to life, one way or another.
Also, I've always been intrigued with the idea of breaking boundaries in fiction, of going to strange and paradoxical places and seeing what happens. The stories are my fun way of exploring the ideas of breaking the fourth wall and allowing fiction and reality to mingle at will.
HH: What do you like best about Jason Bell? AJ: Oh I just love Jason. He's at once an incorrigible cad and a sweetheart of a guy who'd lay down his life for you. He's a wealth of contradiction wrapped in Vin Disel's body. Nothing wrong with that!
HH: How do you approach building a world like this? AJ: I had a lot of help from my friends who enjoy sci fi when building the universe in Bell Curve. We all sat down to pie and coffee and brainstormed a long, long list of cliches often seen in sci fi stories--everything from the "wise Yoda character" to the "space rebels" to the adjustable force fields and other bad science mistakes (did you know stars don't flicker in space, for example? Some sci fi writers forget that). Not all the cliches made it into the book, but sci fi fans will find something they can groan at.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this book? AJ: I both love and struggle with writing humor. Mainly because, while something cracks me up, I have no guarantee that the same joke will amuse a reader. Writing a funny story, with touching and sexy moments, was more of a challenge than I anticipated but I think I'm prouder of the end result because I worked so diligently to make sure the story was entertaining. I know not all romance fans are going to love Jason's story, especially the ending, but I feel what had to happen, happened. I enjoyed the creation process, despite the birth pains.
HH: What are you working on at the moment? What else do you have in store for readers? AJ: I've just contracted my novel A Pirate's Legacy, which is about an archaeologist who dreams of a pirate who happens to be a woman in disguise. Their stories become intertwined as Sinclaire searches for the resting place of her pirate, Rebekah Bonny. Of course, both women find some romance and a lot of adventure along the way. This one is near and dear to me, and I'm thrilled it will be out in the world with eXtasy Books.
I'm also working on a set of shifter novels based on trickster tales (Coyote, Anansi, Loki, etc.). Those are a big project, so I work on them in pieces.
HH: How did you get your start as a writer? AJ: National Novel Writing Month! If it wasn't for NaNo, I would never have written my first novel, Triple X, which was just nominated for an Eppie award in 2007.
HH: How have things changed for you since then? AJ: I hope I'm a better writer as I write more! I've learned a lot about the business and the process of writing, but I think when the real work is happening, the love of writing has stayed just as sweet.
HH: What do you do when you get stuck in a story? AJ: The middle, where else? Also, I find that if I don't have at least a loose outline, I cast about without much direction. I need to know the general way the story goes before I start, though often little bits come to me as I write (and also in the shower, for some odd reason).
HH: Any vacation plans this year? AJ: I am hitting Disney with my good friend and her family this year--there will be a whole bunch of us enjoying Mickey's hospitality for a week! We are already planning all the places we want to eat, lol. Other than that, I hope to sneak away with my husband but with little kids around, the most vacation we get is when they sleep in until 8 :)
HH: Thank you!
