About Kacey Hammell Kacey Hammell is a self-proclaimed book-a-holic, who began reading romances at a young age and became easily addicted. With the love of contemporary settings, modern day romances and make believe happily ever after, and the excitement of suspense, Kacey creates her stories writing what she’s familiar with and what she loves most. Of course those aren’t the only books she reads. Blood-sucking vampires who nibble the necks of the heroines are another addiction she especially loves, shape-shifters are sexier than hell and she’d loves the thought of her very own werewolf or were-cat to tame!
Locked in her office, at her computer, she lets her lusty and exciting characters lead her through their trials and tribulations, their love and their adventures. Detectives, P.I.’s, sassy and headstrong women (who seem to model after her), all come to life in her heart and within the pages of her half dozen works in progress.
Each book gets me excited and charged-up. Each is my baby and I love the characters. My first book, ISABELLA’S ILLUSIONS and is the first in a nine book series.
Readers are the zest of an author’s career and she hopes readers will take the time to write to her and let her know what they think of her books or offer feedback about her site as well.

An Interview with Kacey Hammell
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio
HH: Kacey, welcome back to TRS BLUE! Tell us about your featured book, Last Man Standing!KH: Thank you, Holly! It's always a pleasure to be with TRS
Last Man Standing is one of those "what if" / "the one that got away" stories. Jazz Vanburren wanted nothing more years ago to be with Scott Price - the most sought after guy in high school. She'd vowed to love him forever - until he broke her heart. Ryder Donovan is the one man she's always had in her life - her best friend, her confidant, her boss. But when Scott comes back into her life, Ryder puts all his cards on the table - he loves her, always has, always will. He wants her to remember that when she decides to meet with her old flame.
But, she can only have one...
HH: Your heroine is in quite a situation. Her first love makes contact around the same time her boss and friend declares his love. What's a girl to do? <g> Where did you get the idea for this wonderful story? KH: Again, it's the 'what if' factor. I think it's something that every person, at one time or another, thinks/or has thought of. [What would happen if I made decision A instead of B. What if I chose lover B instead of C.] And from personal experience as well, I identified with Jazz's broken heart of that one person that stomped all over her heart years ago. I think we've all had our heart broken a time or two when we were younger. Jazz's dilemma is one that I believe many women - and even men - can identify with.
HH: So what do you like best about your heroine? KH: I love Jazz's spirit the most and her dedication to her friends. She didn't want to ruin her friendship with Ryder even though deep within her heart she loved him wholeheartedly. Years ago, it was Jazz that had broken his heart, and she wasn't sure she's be unable to again since she didn't know what she truly wanted for the future. She wanted the kids, husband and career, but she was afraid to grab onto what was right in front of her. Her strength to revisit the past, conquer her broken heart in order to move on with her life. Jazz had strength that wasn't even aware of that drew her to me and made us friends.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story? KH: Everything. In a nutshell - everything. Last Man Standing was about an old flame coming back to town that my heroine had to see once again in order to move on with her life. But it was also about Jazz noticing what was right in front of her - for years - realizing how much her heart really loved Ryder. It was a story about two friends who were destined to be together, no matter the obstacles that stood in their way. It was a pure romance, hearts meeting and the journey.
HH: What are you working now? KH: I have many WIPs in progress. Mid-2007 the untimely death of my father has put a lot of things on hold. His moto of 'never leave anything undone' sticks with me now and I feel that once I can get my heart and head back into writing fully, I'll finish many WIPs instead of just focusing on one, releasing it and promo, etc. I think it's important for me to finish some of the stories I have in progress. But currently I am working on Desired Rhythms (sequel to Sinful Melodies) & Book 3 of "In the Arms of the Law": Flame's Fury (sequel to Isabella's Illusions & Alicia's Awakening) and have about a dozen shorter stories in the works. I've also outlined a vampire/paranormal series that has rejuvenated my muse a lot more.
HH: What else do you have in store for readers in 2008? KH: Due to some WIPs not being finished I don't actively have anything scheduled for 08, though with loveyoudivine, as soon as anything is complete I can send it in and it be published within 2-3 months.
HH: What do enjoy most about being a writer?
KH: I enjoy the escape into the world created, the lives of my characters. I haven't been able to find that escape much lately but I hope to again very soon. I plug away a bit each day but my heart isn't 100% into it but I do feel it awakening again bit by bit. So I hope I'll be writing again full-time asap.
HH: How did you get your start?
KH: I started as a reviewer on the net, then became an editor for a few publishing houses. I also have been a contact for authors to come to, to proofread their WIPs. But since I became an editor, then an author, I don't do that as often anymore, but for a select few. I like to listen to my own voices in my head these days *g*
HH: What accomplishment in your career so far are you most proud of? KH: There have been many, Holly. From the first book, Isabella's Illusions releasing and each book thereafter, to being nominated in '06 for a CAPA, to each wonderful review. It's all been fantastic. I think the first time, however, that I handed my Mom and Dad that first print copy and saw their smiles...that had to be the greatest moments. My Mom has always been my greatest supporter. And my father, he was a quiet soul who wasn't one for words, but his smile and interest in my craft showed me how proud he was. I've enjoyed so many things about writing, I could go on for days.
HH: What would you most like to achieve in your career this year? KH: The chance to truly get back into writing and feel my characters again. I truly do miss them but they have understood and are patiently waiting for me to come back. My muse has been rejuvenated by the paranormal series so I think I'll be spending more hours at the computer in the coming months.
HH: Thank you!
