An Interview with Tilly Greene
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio
HH: Tilly, welcome back to TRS BLUE. Please tell us about your featured book, OohRah!TG: It's always a pleasure to be here Holly and thank you for taking the time to talk to me about my super sexy Marine. OohRah! is a love story about a man who didn't realize how much he'd been missing out on until the woman who completes him runs into his life. Dale Smythe is a Marine who is happy with his life in the Corps but starts to rethink what he's missing out on and his future after speaking with an old friend. Tasha Ruskya is exactly where she wants to be professionally, it's her love life that needs some attention and she finds it in the most unlikely of places…sweating and puffing her way through a race for Breast Cancer.
HH: What made you decide on that wonderful title? TG: OohRah, in all its various spellings and definitions, is basically a call out for something good and Marine Corps well done. This word is actually only used once in the story and I won't tell you where but I will say it's when Dale Smythe finally sees the life he wants most is possible.
HH: Where did you get the idea for this sizzling story? TG: It's as simple and complicated as reality. One day all the harsh news being related about the war became too much to handle and I needed to put a different spin on it for the sake of my sanity. That's where it all started but the personalities and choices Dale and Tasha made took it to another level.
HH: What do you like best about Dale? TG: Even though he's a soldier and a very good one at that, he's a real man who is far from being perfect and I like that about him. There's nothing indestructible or superhero-like about him. Tightly holding on to his humanity, questioning his mortality, wanting to be missed by someone who knows and cares for him are all issues that are going through this man.
HH: So what are you working on now? TG: What else do you have in store for readers this year?
So much is going on right now, I have my fingers dipping into many different pies. Zandia, my futuristic erotic romances about sexual equality has been released in paperback through Samhain Publishing. Hot Couture, the first three stories in my passion for fashion series, have been pulled together and will be released in paperback and ebook on April 28th through Phaze. It will open with the New York City muse in The Leather Bride, which has been extended, then Taming Marie Antoinette with the graduate student in Paris organizing a Haute Couture exhibition and finally the London jeweler in The Gilded Cage. Hot Couture will also be the latter stories debut. I'm in the midst of Spring Book Tour with the East Coast Authors group. Through all that, there's only one thing on my writing tablet right now…I'm knee deep in my Come series. This is my Russian shifter trilogy with only one story short of being finished and the entire set being submitted. I'm hoping to have this done before I head off to attend my first RT Booklovers convention as an author.
HH: How much time do you spend on your writing career including promotion, attending events, etc.? TG: Hmmm, all of it. From six in the morning until dinner and sometimes after, I spend on writing and all that encompasses. It wouldn't be fair to mislead people into thinking I'm like Cinderella slaving away at work. There are some bits that aren't as exciting as others but they are far outweighed by the satisfaction I get in return.
HH: How do you balance your writing career with the rest of your life? TG: To be perfectly honest, I'm still working on this one. Some days are easier than others and then there are those I don't want to leave the characters until I've finished.
HH: What do you enjoy most about your writing time? TG: The pure indulgence of working on whatever is traipsing through my mind. There is a certain amount of satisfaction achieved with each stage. From the beginning stages of plotting and gathering of research to its release and receiving reader feedback, it's like one long, wild and crazy roller coaster ride. It's fantastic!
HH: How do you see the future of erotic romance in the current romance market? TG: Ooo Holly, what an interesting question. Okay, my simple answer is that it's here to stay and I don't think it will continue to be a lightening rod in the romance sector. There's nothing nasty or horrible about sex, it happens to have a role in the romance genre. It's the author who decides how far they want to open bedroom door and the reader to choose where their comfort level is. You see, I'm a glass half-full kind of person and can't help but think how very lucky we are to have a genre with so many various paths to a satisfying end. There will always be something for every taste in romance, sweet to hot-hot, in a variety of themes and sub-genres, which is why the genre is popular.
HH: Any vacation plans this year? TG: We have a friend getting married in Ireland so we'll most likely be heading over there for the event. Right now the plan is to take some time and travel around the countryside but we're flexible so this might change as well. Then there are always the various family visits to the right and left of us. Who knows, this might be the year we take a holiday someplace where we don't have to go but want to go. Anyway it happens, time to relax with the cutie is always good.
Thank you so much Holly, I always enjoy my time spent with you.
HH: Thank you!
