About Suzanne Rock

A lifetime New Englander, Suzanne married her college sweetheart and has been with him for over twenty years. Every summer she drags her husband and two daughters to Maine on a quest for the perfect lobster dinner. Every fall she can be found down in Foxboro, Massachusetts cheering on her favorite football team. In between those trips, she's a chauffer, a maid, a chef, an event planner, a hairdresser, a wardrobe stylist, a tutor and a sometimes masseuse. To keep her sanity, she often drinks copious amounts of coffee and stares at the blank screen of her laptop, dreaming of great adventures. Sometimes she even writes them down for others to enjoy.

An Interview with Suzanne Rock
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Thank you for talking with us at TRS BLUE. Your featured book is The Great Escape and is part of your Ecstasy Spa series. First, what can you tell us about this sizzling series?

SR: This is a contemporary erotic romance series that takes place at a place called the Ecstasy Spa. It follows the lives and loves of its employees as well as the owner, a beautiful French woman with a dominating personality named Celeste.

HH: How do the first three books set up the series?

SR: The first three books are all m/f romances, and establish Ecstasy Spa as a place the elite go to to unwind from daily stress. It also shows that while the patrons are wealthy and extravagant, most of the staff is just making ends meet. They all have big plans, none of which involve falling in love. How these staff members figure out how to have it all is the basis of these stories.

HH: How does The Great Escape continue it?

SR: The Great Escape is the first m/m/f ménage in the series. (I have two more planned.) This follows the client Sienna, who was introduced as the heroine Anna’s best friend in the first book. An appearance is made by Anna and her now fiancé, Seth.

HH: What do you like best about Sienna and why do you think readers will relate to her?

SR: At first glance, Sienna appears to have it all together, but her life is in turmoil. How she works through that turmoil is a big part of the story. She has an adventurous spirit and isn’t afraid to try new things.

HH: What do you like best about Gianni and why will readers love him?

SR: Gianni is an Italian model who is disenchanted with the modeling lifestyle. He is tired of women who are beautiful on the outside but ugly on the inside. He now prefers plainer, more average looking women who happen to be beautiful on the inside like Sienna.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

SR: I am currently working on the next book in the series, Pressure Point. This story is another m/m/f ménage between three coworkers at the spa. We get to see a little more of the spa owner, Celeste, and introduce an ambitious and unforgiving character, Jenna.

HH: How long have you been a writer and what keeps you writing?

SR: I’ve been writing since 2009, so I guess four years. The business is hard, and it’s the readers who keep me going. Every time I get a comment that someone liked my story or is waiting for a sequel, it’s like gold. I love it and it keeps me going.

HH: What goals have you set for yourself at this point in your career?

SR: Interesting question, lol. I have a rather extensive backlist at this point and am reevaluating where I want to go. My first priority is to complete many of the series I’ve started. Ecstasy Spa (6 books), Small Town Seductions (A Little Bit Reckless trilogy), Warlock Mating Chronicles (trilogy), Kyron Pack (trilogy) and Jungle Heat (trilogy) will be completed in that order by this time next year (hopefully). The Immortal Hungers series is more complex and I hope to have that wrapped up in early 2014 (6 books). I also have four more trilogy/series ideas, but I told myself that I can’t start anything new until I finish some of the stuff I already have out on the market, lol.

In addition, I’d like to move into mainstream romance, and have plans to launch a new pen name next year. This new pen name will write contemporary romances and romantic suspense. Suzanne will continue to write contemporary and paranormal erotic romances, both m/f and ménage pairings. The mainstream pen name and Suzanne will be linked, so there will be no doubt that we are the same person.

Self-publishing has been a lot of fun and I love the control it gives me. I’m hoping to move many of my self published works into print (POD) throughout this year and next. I hope to continue to self-publish for many years to come.

HH: What do you enjoy reading?

SR: I read anything, depending on my mood. My favorite stories are erotic romances, urban fantasy/post apocalyptic and thrillers. I also love short stories of any genre (under 50 pages).

HH: What are you most looking forward to before the year's end?

SR: I am committed to completing the Ecstasy Spa series by the end of November. To celebrate, I’ll be having a huge sale right before Christmas. Right now I need to iron out the details, but rest assured that something big will happen in December. =)

HH: Thank you!
