Reviews for Silk Road
“SILK ROAD is an entertaining urban fantasy romance that promises to captivate readers as good, evil, and something in between converge in a real page turner from beginning to end.” ~R. Barri Flowers, bestselling Harlequin author of MURDER IN HONOLULU and MURDER IN MAUI Silk Road caught my attention and kept me on my toes through every chapter. There were a few times in the beginning when I thought “I know what is happening … I see where this is going” and…well I was wrong. This was not an accurate assumption. I think I assumed in the beginning that everything was transparent and expected, just because the story seemed so natural. Silk Road twisted and turned flawlessly. ~Annie S., Booked and Loaded Reviews This is Larien and Jayla’s story but there were so many other characters introduced in this first book that she had me wondering how she was going to really keep the story moving with so many Angels written into the story line. But, keep it moving, she did. She had me guessing with every turn of the page. ~Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

About TJ Michaels
TJ picked up her first romance novel, a book by Heather Graham, back in 1994. It was love at first page. She thought, “I love this! I can write this, I know I can.” And she sat down and wrote a book full of alpha guys and their kick butt women. That book sat on a shelf while TJ raised her kids and established her career. One day her son asked, “Hey mom, when are you going to do something with that big book you wrote when I was little?” After cocking her head sideways and giving it some thought, TJ sat down and wrote what became her first published work. She hasn’t looked back, though she does still ask her kids for suggestions. TJ is now an award-winning author of several romance genres, including paranormal, fantasy, sci-fi and urban fantasy romance. Writing like a madman, TJ hasn’t lost steam. Her mind? Yep, that’s gone, but steam there is a-plenty. A true Taurus, TJ isn’t slowing down and she’s definitely too stubborn to stop when she sees the fence! No matter the genre TJ is penning, her favorite thing to do is build worlds. To take you somewhere extraordinary. To transport you to a place where you can close your eyes and slip into your fantasy...

An Interview with TJ Michaels
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: TJ, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book, Silk Road, is the first in your Seals of Destiny series. Where did you get the idea for this amazing series?
TJ: I had the Discovery Channel on one day while I was doing day-job stuff and a show came on called Lost Books of the Bible. I did a double take because I'd never heard of such a thing. Lost books? Really? So when they got to the Book of Solomon and began to talk about how that particular book mentioned magic rings and flying carpets, my curiosity lit up. From there I researched like crazy, then made up my own mythology to gel with the actual myths and it was off like a rocket from there!
HH: How does Silk Roads kick off the series?
TJ: We meet a Fallen angel named Larien. He's our hero. But as we move along, we learn that not all Fallen are bad guys and not all Ascended angels are good guys. Larien is tasked with helping Jayla, a human woman who is a Descendant of Solomon, find one of the relics from the lost Book of Solomon while trying to keep all the other guys from getting it first..
HH: What do you like best about Jayla and why will readers empathize with her?
TJ: She's a happy-go-lucky woman who has always known she has gifts. The problem is that she doesn't know WHY she has these gifts, so she had no idea why people are suddenly trying to kill her off. When she gets fed up with feeling like she has a bulls-eye painted on her forehead, she fights back. I think readers will like her spunk and her vulnerability.
HH: What do you like best about Larien and why will readers love him?
TJ: Larien? He's a complex, sexy, bad-assed Fallen angel who doesn't regret what he is. At the same time, he's broken in the 'love' department and NOT because he Fell. I think readers enjoy an alpha who also has a soft-spot for his woman...when he finally makes her his, that is.
HH: What can you tell us about the books to com in this series?
TJ: You'll meet some interesting secondary characters in Book One and they've all got a story to tell. Talan is a Shadow Priest with a penchant for potions and getting into trouble. And then there's Chel, a Fallen, and Isthus who is a fae leprechaun.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
TJ: Book Four in the Vampire Council of Ethics series is with my editor. Hopefully she likes it so I can announce a release date. A number of readers have been asking for this one. It's a menage and totally hot because the characters have a lot of attraction as well as some head-butting.
HH: How does 2013 promise to be different from 2012 for you?
TJ: Well, in 2012 I only finished two books due to day job deadlines (basically I traveled 85,000 miles in 2012 for work) and family stuff. All good stuff, but very very busy. This year I'll be able to write more because there have been some changes regarding day-job stuff and I couldn't be more thrilled. I may make the transition to full-time writer sooner than I hope for *SQUEEEE*
HH: Where do you find inspiration for your stories?
TJ: Work! Since I travel all over the world I get all kinds of inspiration from all over the place. It could be someone I saw in the airport, or something goofy a co-worker or client said. The possibilities are endless!
HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?
TJ: I'm on Facebook alot. I also get on Twitter but I don't get much interaction there.
HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2013?
TJ: Authors After Dark conference in Savannah Georgia! I plan to get a few people in trouble if I can *heh*
HH: Thank you!
