5- AN ALPHA HOWL: "Loved it! I am an absolute vampire lover, so I thought I was going to be a little upset when the vamp in this book was the bad guy. However, I'm totaly on board with the hunter in this book. It was an awesome book, I loved all of the action and the hot hot sex!! I wouldn't necessarily call this a love triangle tho, more like a couple with a mean vampire stalker, lol. Kyra is absolutely kick a** and handles the total disruption in her life very well, it helps that she has this totally hot hunter protecting her and helping her through it. Great read!" -- Emi, Bitten by Paranormal Romance

By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
SH: Hi Holly, thanks for having me! Whispers came about because I wanted to write a vampire story that was as dark as it was sexy. I went back to the roots of vampire lore, when blood drinkers were evil predators and never, ever sparkled. With a villain that powerful, I knew I’d need a heroine with a kicking attitude and a hero to match her. Once I had the characters in my head, they took the lead and told me how the story was going to go!
HH: What do you like about Kyra and what's her greatest strength?
SH: Kyra is an awesome character and I suspect she’ll be one of my all time favorites. She’s a fighter who won’t give up no matter how tough things get, and she’s not the sort of girl to wait around for the hero to come and rescue her, she’s more than willing to rescue herself. That determination is her greatest strength.
HH: What do you like best about Gareth and what makes him different than most heroes?
SH: Gareth isn’t completely human, and the dark side of his nature has pushed him into a solitary life of hunting. I love that despite the darkness in his soul, he still has a sense of humor. He’s a vampire hunter who still loves to tease his sister and gets nagged by his mother.
HH: How did you go about creating the world where their story takes place?
SH: I located the story on the Canadian West coast, which is where I live. The whole area is a blend of vibrant city living, ancient mountain ranges and old growth forests, so it’s easy to imagine any number of supernatural creatures could be lurking nearby.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?
SH: This story was a lot of fun to write over all, but I really enjoyed getting to step into the mind of an ancient monster and seeing the world through his eyes. His charismatic darkness added a nice counterpoint to the hot chemistry between Kyra and Gareth.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
SH: My next book is another paranormal romance, Saved by Sin. It’s the first book in the Paladin Protection Agency series and it’s due out at Siren-Bookstrand on December 18th, 2012. It’s got a sexy bodyguard and a heroine on the run from the ghost of her abusive ex-boyfriend.
HH: What are you most excited about in your career right now?
SH: 2012 has been an amazing year for me. It’s the first time my writing in the romance genre has been published, and I am just enjoying the opportunity to share my stories with readers.
HH: What are you looking forward to most in the rest of 2012?
SH: The holidays are just around the corner now, and I am looking forward to getting to spend time with my friends and family. And of course, enjoying all the holiday baking I am about to get started on.
HH: What are you reading at the moment?
SH: Sophie Oaks -- Bound
HH: Do you have a writing hero and if so, who would it be?
SH: If I had to name just one, it would be Stephen King. He has a knack for creating vivid imagery and setting a very creepy mood. His book “On Writing” has a permanent place on my desk.
HH: Thank you!
