An Interview with Lucy Felthouse

HH: Lucy, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Loose Ends and features two characters who've let each other slide in the past. Where did you get the idea for this amazing story?
LF: It’s a tiny little bit based on the truth, in that I liked someone at University but we never got together for various reasons. The rest is total fabrication, I’ve never been to a reunion!
HH: What do you like best about Lauren and why will readers empathize with her?
LF: I like Lauren because she’s been in a similar situation to me -- except it played out differently in the end. I think readers will empathize because so many of us have had a person that was ‘the one that got away’ and like reading stories about what happens when those people meet up again.
HH: What do you like best about Jonathan and why will readers love him?
LF: Jonathan is funny, sexy and a nice guy. I think readers will love him for those reasons, and because he’s absolutely spectacular in the sack! ;)
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story and what do you think readers will take away from it?
LF: I really enjoyed playing with blurring the lines of reality and fiction, making up a happy ending (maybe!) and the sex scene is damn hot, too. I think readers will take away a happy, romantic feeling and hopefully feel quite frisky, too!
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
LF: Oh, plenty! I have a novel out on submission, so I’m hoping that will be accepted and published at some point this year. I have several stories coming in anthologies, and also the second part of my first series is coming out in the next couple of months. A Taste of Paris is the follow-up to A Taste of London, and follows the characters’ adventures to another country.
HH: How does 2013 promise to be different from 2012 for you?
LF: Well, as I say, hopefully I’ll have a novel on the market and it’ll be interesting to get feedback on that. Also, I’ll be working more on my series, which is something I’ve never done before. I’m also working on a secret project with another author, my first co-authoring project, which is proving to be great fun so far. Another novel is probably in the pipeline, too ;)
HH: Where do you find inspiration for your stories?
LF: Absolutely anywhere and everywhere. My muses, overheard conversations, films, TV, books, places, people… inspiration really can strike at any point. It’s just making sure you remember the ideas so you can write them down that is the tricky part.
HH: What's your writing schedule like?
LF: All over the place. I run a writer promotion company, (http://www.writermarketing.co.uk) and that always has to come first as that’s guaranteed money. I squeeze my writing in around working with writers to promote their books, create websites and so on. I do my best to clear large chunks of time for me to write, because I work best that way.
HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?
LF: I really don’t mind. Emails are great, as is Twitter and Facebook. I’ve even been lucky enough to meet some of my readers in the flesh -- it’s all fantastic!
HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2013?
LF: Getting my novel on the market, finishing the co-author project and hopefully getting it published, and releasing more titles in my A Taste of series -- the next one to write will be Rome. Then after I’ve been to Amsterdam in May, it’ll be time to pen A Taste of Amsterdam.
