Reviews for Snow, Fire, and Ice

"Randi del Marco sketches a believable story that is heartwarming, moving, and an absolute joy to read. Maxie is a character that stays with readers even after the story is finished. I love it when two people, who were truly meant to be, finally find a way in reaching out and discovering that one special love all over again. This coming of age tale is a fantastic read! About Randi del Marco

Randi del Marco bases herself in Los Angeles but has traveled all over the world on movies. Her work has taken her to Australia, Kenya, Austria and France as well as working in the United States and Canada. Randi loves to explore the areas she visits and brings an off-the-beaten path look at some of these locations to her writing.

She has worked in many capacities in the film industry, from production assistant to production manager, from craft service person to set dresser. But it was while working as the assistant to a major producer that she really got to see the world and the workings behind the scenes that go into making major motion pictures.

Escapism is her middle name and when she isn't out experiencing the world at large, she devours books; novels, biographies, political treatises and philosophic tomes.

But nothing can compare to a great romance to sweep her off her feet and fill her soul with joy. Randi hopes that her second career, as a writer, will allow her to bring such joy to other readers.

An Interview with Randi del Marco
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Randi, welcome to TRS BLUE. Please tell us about your featured work, Snow, Fire, and Ice.

RDM: Snow, Fire, and Ice is the story of Maxie and Philippe. Maxie, the ugly duckling teenager who falls in love with an older man, a crush when her hormones are pushing her from childhood into becoming a woman. They meet near a ski resort outside of Montreal and part, never really expecting to see each other again.

But three years later, Philippe is in Las Vegas for a meeting and Maxie gets her stepfather to drive her out to renew their connection. Maxie has grown up but Philippe is heading off on a new adventure which does not include her.

When another three years have passed, Maxie has come into her own and, when Philippe comes to visit her, it is he who is bowled over.

HH: So your hero and heroine have met before and it was the stuff of fantasies for your heroine since. When she meets him again, she’s ready. How did this story idea develop for you?

RDM: I was skiing and I saw a heavyset girl who could not keep up with her friends and my heart went out to her. And to ugly ducklings everywhere. I wanted a story that would take the ugly duckling and allow it, her, to grow into a beautiful swan.

HH: What do you like best about Maxie?

RDM: That she is a real girl, with hopes and fears and a not-perfect body.

HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?

RDM: Watching Maxie grow up. In many ways this book was my child and the book is all about Maxie. It was my first time writing in this genre and, in fact, in a non-business manner. So I had a lot of hopes and fears about the book.

HH: What do you enjoy about writing romantic fiction?

RDM: It makes me feel good. And, I hope, my readers as well.

HH: What in the genre do you enjoy reading?

RDM: Stories about strong, adventurous women with careers who meet an equal.

HH: When you start a book, do you start out with a character or scene or does the plot come to you first?

RDM: I need to know my characters first, to understand them. To give them life and a set of circumstances in which they will play out their lives and love.

HH: Where and when do you do your best writing?

RDM: I have an office alcove off my kitchen which has everything I need. Usually late afternoon, early evening when I have completed what needs to be done in my day but before I get too tired.

HH: What do you do when you get stuck in a story?

RDM: Go for a swim and try and get into my characters’ heads. Ask them what they would do.

HH: What you like for readers to know about you?

RDM: That I write because I truly enjoy both the experience of my fantasies and the opportunity to bring them to my readers as well. I want to share the pleasure of living in an alternate universe for a while. And hope they will come along for the ride. In Snow, Fire, and Ice as well as in the books of my Pepper on Location series, also available through RosaRomance.com.

HH: Thank you!
