Reviews for The Diamond Hearstone
4 Stars From Night Owl Romance
Reviewer Dee says:
"... The erotic mating scenes are powerful. There’s a lot of action that is easy to follow, and the dialogue is reflexive – real life responses."
5 Stars From Euro-Reviews
5 Angels from Fallen Angel Reviews
"The Diamond Heartstone is a fascinating page-turner. I love it when Barrick tells Alycia she talks too much. Their actions are so real as they come in contact with each other. The banter keeps the storyline moving at a good pace. Leila Brown sketches characters that stick in the readers mind even after the story is finished. I love the way she brings in the premise of Barrick and the tiger. I also liked the fact that Alycia really cares for the tiger and other animals. The setting with the maze of hallways put this reader right in the center of the action with the other cats, it was that description, and kept me glued wondering what would happen next. There were some twists and turns, with a few intense moments that this reader enjoyed. All in all this was a splendid read."

About Leila Brown I've been an avid reader since the fifth grade. I read everything I could get my hands on from horror, to mystery and finally stopping in romance.
While in college studying computer programming and electrical engineering, I realized what I wanted to do when I grew up. I wanted to write those stories that entertained me through more night's than I could count.
Of course my first attempts were less than remarkable and have been destroyed to protect the innocent.
As the years have progressed life kind of took over. I got married, had a son, changed jobs several times. But one thing remained constant -- my desire to write.
Currently, I work a normal 9 to 5 in the IT world. I write during my lunch hour and at home after 9pm when everyone in my house is asleep.
Is it easy?...Yes and No. Coming up with the stories is easy. Getting the words out of my head and onto paper is HARD!
But I couldn't live without it!
A note from Leila:
Keep your eyes out I will have more stories releasing in 2008!
An Interview with Leila Brown
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio
HH: Leila, welcome to TRS Blue! Please tell us about your featured work, The Diamond Heartstone.
LB: This book is the first book I've had published.
Alycia's always possessed an affinity for cats, big and small. But when she's kidnapped by a being more feline than human it turns from an asset to a issue. A six-foot five sexy one.
Barrick never dreamed when he paid the best matchmaker in the galaxy to find his mate she would choose one so... different. Alycia is a headstrong, opinionated, melt in your mouth delicious distraction. She's nothing he wanted and everything he needs.
HH: Your heroine loves cats and your hero is in search of a mate, but neither end up with quite who they expected. Where did you get the idea for this sizzling story? LB: Well, my proposal for one of Cobblestone Press Vampire Oracle books had just got accepted. I wanted to write a shifter book but didn't want to do a werewolf. I wanted to something different. So I started to thinking what if...this is what came out of it.
HH: What do you like best about Barrick? LB: The fact that he is not perfect. He has a temper and loses it just like anyone else.
HH: How did you go about world building for this story? LB: For the reserve I chose a real location. For Barrick's world I had the image of a planet torn between two images. One looking to the future and one locked in the past. I built up the image so that you would see the stark contrast between both.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing it? LB: Making a strong man like Barrick fall hard for an everyday girl.
HH: What are you working on now?
LB: I just sold an urban fantasy menage story. It is the story of two Fae brothers and what happens after a chance encounter to one of the most sought after Fae in the both the human and Fae realms. It is a super hot story.
HH: It sounds wonderful. <g> What else do you have in store for readers in 2008?
LB: I will be having a story come out in the Cobblestone Press Vampire Oracle Series. I have the Sacrifice card. It will be released in August. Keep your eyes peeled.
HH: How did you get your start as a writer?
LB: Reading and writing as much as possible. You have to read to know what's hot. What's being sold. What's being bought. And you have to write. Writing gets better with practice. So I wrote as much as I could. I've had a handful of rejections and then I sold to Cobblestone Press.
HH: How have things changed for you since then?
LB: I write everyday now. No matter what. 100, 500, 3000 words. It doesn't matter. As long as they are new words. They can't publish what I don't write.
HH: What would you most like readers to know about you?
LB: I would love readers to know I am always trying to think of new and exciting ways to entertain them. Keep an eye out for news of new books and submissions on my blog: www.leilabrown.com.
Thank you for the interview.
HH: Thank you!
